Job overview:
Schneider is seeking a Credit Specialist in Green Bay to evaluate new and existing customers for creditworthiness and identify risks of delinquency and bankruptcy. The Credit Specialist will manage these risks by communicating with all involved business sectors and the accounts receivable department.
Responsibilities:
- Use credit reporting agencies, customer financial statements, trade references, payment histories and other sources to investigate new, existing and potential customer accounts.
- Explain risk recommendations to business leaders.
- Document approvals and overrides regarding credit decisions.
- Leverage risk mitigation tools, including letters of credit, escrow accounts and personal/cross-corporate guarantees.
- Perform bad debt write-offs, file claims on broker bonds and trust funds, file bankruptcy proofs of claim and file small claims court proceedings.
- Maintain credit application files.
- Keep the mergers, acquisitions and divestitures database up to date.
Skills and qualifications:
- Associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, credit or business.
- A minimum of 2 years of credit or collections experience.
- Able to analyze and interpret risk using credit reports and financial statements.
- Experience with Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience using Oracle.
- Knowledge of automated credit decision-making tools.
